The world of caregiving is filled with unsung heroes, informal caregivers who provide invaluable support to our senior family members in their natural environment. Behind the scenes of caregiving is a deep commitment to the well-being of our senior family members. However, the sacrifices made by informal caregivers often result in vulnerability that affects their quality of life and access to essential resources.
Our colleague Jiri has embarked on a journey to address these challenges head-on. Drawing from empirical evidence and data from a representative sample of informal caregivers in the Czechia, Jiri has proposed innovative pathways to ensure dignity in older age by strengthening the engagement of both seniors and caregivers.
It is striking that four-fifths of caregivers find supportive social services focused on caregivers helpful. This emphasizes the need for a human-centered design approach when developing caregiver-centered services.
It is time to put caregivers at the center of our focus. Meeting their needs is crucial not only for improving the quality of informal care but also for empowering caregivers themselves. Let us create a more supportive and compassionate caregiving landscape!
