Department of Social and health research

The department focuses on conducting qualitative and quantitative research and evaluations in the social and health field. The research team consists of experts from the field of social services, social policy, psychology and sociology, which enables a multidisciplinary approach to individual research questions.

Specific topics that are developed in this department include:

  • population aging and its effects on social and health services,
  • employment of the elderly citizens,
  • social work in municipalities or regions / professionalization of social work,
  • social housing,
  • social and legal protection of children,
  • health prevention,
  • health awareness,
  • development of social and health services.

She is a qualified social worker and researcher. Kristýna specializes in research in the field of social affairs (civil society, social services, population aging, social and legal protection of children, etc.) and health issues (prevention programs). She also deals with the design and implementation of evaluations, especially for socially or health-oriented projects.

Department of Sensitive topic research

The department focuses on basic and applied research of sensitive topics that require specific methodological and theoretical approaches. It uses qualitative and quantitative research techniques and methods for its research activities. The department also implements projects, during the solution of which social science research with IT is connected.

Big attention is also paid to issues of ethics in social science research.

The department’s research interests include:

  • healthy and active aging, long term care and solutions for aging population;
  • impact of informal care on various population groups;
  • evaluation of palliative and end of life care;
  • elder abuse and neglect;
  • systemic support of socially excluded people; 
  • issues of communication in organizations and between schools and children’s legal representatives;
  • ethically responsible behavior.

Petra is a social anthropologist who deals with the social aspects of dying and death and the issue of hospice and palliative care. In the field of qualitative research, she specializes in methodological approaches to the research of sensitive topics and the use of ethnographic methods. It also deals with the issue of research ethics and reflexivity. She carried out long-term ethnographic research in central Mexico and Mexico City, on the basis of which she wrote a dissertation with autoetnographic elements. She is a member of the Czech Association for Social Anthropology.

Department of Environment

The Department of the Environment is engaged in research in the areas of fisheries, waste management, air protection and household water consumption. Most of his research is based on quantitative and qualitative research on the attitudes and behavior of stakeholders. Part of the research tasks is based on secondary analysis.

Main topics for this department:

  • the impact of fisheries management in sport fishing on fish catches, the effectiveness of landing and fishing visits;
  • NIMBY effect (not in my backyard);
  • analysis of the displacement effect in waste management;
  • public attitudes and behavior with regard to the way households are heated;
  • public attitudes and behavior with regard to modes of transport and travel;
  • attitudes and behavior of households with regard to water management.

He is engaged in research in the fields of environment and agriculture, and currently specializes in research in sport fishing. His other specialization is the food ecology of fish-eating birds and mammals and the ecology of fish, and he also researches public attitudes and behavior with regard to how to heat households, choose a means of travel and adapt households to save water. He worked at the IGB-Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries in the team of prof. Robert Arlinghaus, is a member of the IUCN Otter Specialist Group and the IUCN Species Survival Commission and is also the first author of several publications in international scientific journals.

Administrative unit

The administrative unit focuses on the complete administrative and support activities of the research organization for its individual departments: it administers the research projects of individual departments and ensures the operational and economic activities of the research organization.

The staff of the unit also implements two projects aimed at developing a research organization. The first of them is the OPZ project, reg. No. CZ.03.1.51 / 0.0 / 0.0 / 17_131 / 0009323 entitled “Improving the conditions and environment for the work of researchers” and the second is the OP VVV project, reg. No. CZ.02.2.69 / 0.0 / 0.0 / 18_054 / 0014660 entitled “Setting the conditions and environment for international and cross-sectoral cooperation.”

She studied economic and administrative studies with a focus on public administration and economics at the Jan Amos Comenius University in Prague.

She is the head of the administrative unit of INESAN and the executive of the organization. He focuses on project management of internal and external projects, is in charge of HR and PR, and at the same time focuses on the long-term conceptual development of the organization.

Research unit

The research unit focuses mainly on providing research and analytical work for individual departments or for specific researchers. Thus, it creates new and innovates existing research tools and procedures, and is dedicated to the visualization of the results of the organization’s research activities.

Provides field data collection in primary quantitative research, manages the survey network, provides CAWI surveys, performs demanding and advanced data analysis. The unit also focuses on conducting methodological research.

He completed postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague. He has been a member of the Czech Evaluation Society since 2010 and several other professional organizations, including the American Evaluation Association and the European Evaluation Society. In his professional activities, he specializes in the implementation and coordination of evaluation surveys, the implementation of meta-evaluations and the development of methodologies and innovative evaluation and research procedures.
